We love Humaras. Despite a personal preference for its more elaborate Terra sister, this is a connoisseur’s shoe that’s about to drop in a slew of colourways, in a particularly low-key sneak attack, which proved a surprise, after so many releases dictated by their drop date to the nearest millisecond, the Humara’s reissue is led in the UK by a variation of the cult outdoor classic from San Francisco’s True store. A clear winner from the triple-header San Francisco Clerk pack, an initial concern pertaining to use of camo on close-up previews was eradicated on seeing them in the flesh. Of course army-themed patterns are so ubiquitous, that rocking anything other than disruptive patterns will probably help you fade into the urban jungle, but the printing at work to embellish the shoes is very effective, very similar to the camo print on the Opium 180, giving them a more low-key look from a distance that’s far from bland thanks to the combination of olive, brown and citrus green. Of course, the fabric surrounding the Phylon midsole looks like a water absorbing menace, but it’s secure and the gum sole sets the whole thing off nicely. Oh, and star patterned laces don’t hurt either - a nice spin on the ones last flipped in the size? pack. On paper, the Clerk pack Humara sounds like a contrived effort to fill in a checklist of details beloved of heads old and new, but the end result has impressed us- the first to unite us in praise in a looong time. We’re curious as to how they’d fare against the great outdoors, but we’re not going to give ‘em the Ray Mears treatment.
